2010 A Year in Review (part 1)

Well 2010 is almost over and what a year it has been.

The most exciting part of this year for me would have been the birth of my 1st Grandchild, William.

Back in January I did a blog post reviewing my favorite cards/projects I had created during 2009 and had decided to get better organised for 2010 by going through my blog posts each month to select my favorites and bookmarking them. Well that lasted for January and February and then I forgot hehe!

It is always hard to select just one or two cards/projects for each month, especially when you post so many. This year I have over 500 blog posts for 2010, wow that sounds a lot when you look back like this.

This year being that it is so hard to select just one I am going to do this review in two parts, today and tomorrow and have decided to select 2 cards/projects per month.

Here is the selection I came up with, if you click on the card it will take you over to the original blog post.

Well that’s it for the first 6 months of 2010. I know at the beginning I did say I would only post 2 cards/projects for each month…. looks like in May and June I forgot how to count LOL!

Did you notice a theme going on in the first 6 months LOL … lots of baby cards … I did say that my grandson was the best thing that happened in 2010 and he was born in May :)

I will be back tomorrow with part 2 of my year in review, thanks for looking if you got this far.

Woof!

PWC134-Woof-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s time for another Pretties Wednesday Challenge over on the Paper Pretties Blog. This is the last Pretties challenge for 2010, of course we will be back in 2011 with more challenges. This week the challenge is to Ring in the New Year … for this challenge we were to use “ring” as our inspiration. It could be circles, silver of gold, gems … anything that you can do with “ring”

I went with circles on my card … I have plain circles on the top designer paper and open circles that look like rings on the bottom designer paper.

For my card I decided to go with Paper Pretties Message Dog stamp set, and as I wanted a few more birthday cards I used the Happy Birthday in the message part of this image.

PWC134-Woof2-wm

Here is the inside of my card, this time I used one of the sentiments from the Dog-Gone Birthday set. These two sets go so well together!

How to Enter: If you would like to play along with us, all you have to do is create a card/project using the above challenge and upload it to your blog and/or to your SCS Gallery using the keyword PWC134.

A Moosetake!

Riley2510-Moosetake-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time again over on the Riley and Company blog. This week it is my turn to host the challenge and with the New Year just a few days away, I thought about what most people seem to do at this time of the year. Of course they make New Year Resolutions so the challenge this week is to create a card that is inspired by a New Year Resolution – now it doesn't have to be your actual New Years resolution, just one you think someone would make.

I don’t normally make New Years Resolutions myself, then I can’t break them. However I know lots of people do and one in particular is to lose weight, so that is what inspired my card today. For my card I decided to use one of my older Riley stamps, this one is called Diet Riley. The layout of my card uses a recent Mojo Sketch challenge (Mojo 168).

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the Design Teams blogs today so see what they created for this challenge, I am sure they will also be using some of the new stamps that are being released this week.

Stamps: Diet Riley – Riley and Company
Paper: White; Brown; Pink; Piece of Cake DP – Dovecraft
Other: Black Ink; Antique Linen Distress Ink;  Sewing Machine; MS Linked Trim Border Punch; Pink Grosgrain Ribbon; Brown Twine; Oval Punches; Foam Tape; Copics

New Years Resolutions!

MFT-NewYear-wm

Hi everyone

As you know it is less then a week and we are into a brand new year. At this time of year many people start to think about making New Years Resolutions. This is what I had in mind when I created this card.

This card uses MFT Stamps Pure Innocence set called Making A List. When I looked at this set I thought she could be writing out a list of her New Years Resolutions (I wonder how many she will be keeping hehe)

On the front of my card I have used 2 of MFT Stamps Die-namic dies. The Die-namic Doily Die and the Faux Crochet Border Die.

Christmas Crackers!

Crackers-2010e-wm

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas day. I have one last Christmas themed project to share with you this year before we start thinking of moving on to 2011.

Every year I create and decorate my own Christmas crackers to use on Christmas Day. I have been doing this now for over 30 years, except for maybe one or two years when I may have cheated and purchased my crackers and decorated them.

Crackers-2010b-wm

This year my daughter and I found some fun glitter wrapping paper while we were shopping so got this in both the red and the gold papers to use for our crackers. Now this made for a messy day while we were creating them … I think I had glitter all over me when I had finished, but I think the results were worth it!

Crackers-2010c-wm

This year we decided to have the gold for the boys/men and red for the girls/women. The crackers this year we made thicker than I have normally made before as one of the items to go instead wouldn’t fit into my normal formers I used to create my crackers. I had been thinking about making them wider for a couple of years now, fortunately my DH had some pipe down in his shed which was the perfect size to use. The only downside was that he only had enough for one set of formers which meant I had to roll all the crackers … but I did give the other jobs to my daughters to do :)

Crackers-2010d-wm

Normally we don’t add peoples names to the crackers, but we thought it might be fun to do that for this year. I used the Spellbinders ornament nestabilities die which was cut out in either gold or red and then embossed with a sizzix embossing folder.
